Installation
Faultsense has two separate installs for two different consumers:
- The agent runs in your users' browsers — evaluates
fs-*attributes and ships results to a collector. Install via script tag or npm, below. - The instrumentation skill runs in your editor — teaches AI coding agents how to author
fs-*attributes correctly. Install via a plugin marketplace or directly.
You need the agent to capture production data. You need the skill if you want an AI to help you write the fs-* attributes in the first place.
Agent — script tag
Load faultsense-agent.min.js from the Faultsense CDN, pin to an exact version, or download and self-host. No build tools required. Best for server-rendered apps, static sites, and quick prototyping.
<script src="https://cdn.faultsense.com/v0/faultsense-agent.min.js" defer></script>
Agent — npm
Install @faultsense/agent and import it in your bundler (Vite, webpack, esbuild, Rollup). Best for React, Vue, Svelte, Solid, and other component-framework apps.
npm install @faultsense/agent
Agent — collectors
Both agent install paths need a collector to receive assertion results. The collector page covers the panel overlay, console logger, production backend setup, and custom collectors — for both script-tag and npm users.
Skill — Claude Code, Cursor, OpenCode, and other AI coding agents
Install the instrumentation skill into your AI coding agent so it authors fs-* attributes correctly when you ask it to "add assertions" or "instrument this component."
# Claude Code — via the Faultsense marketplace
/plugin marketplace add Faultsense/faultsense-ai
/plugin install faultsense-instrumentation@faultsense-ai
Other agentskills.io-compatible tools install by copying the skill subdirectory — see the skill install page for every path.
After installing
- Configuration — every
init()option for the agent - Frameworks — framework-specific mounting notes (React, Vue, Svelte, etc.)
- Assertions — the
fs-*attribute reference - Triggers — when assertions fire
